Running an Effective Minor Hockey Practice
How to maximize individual development and team performance
Hi there,
You don’t have to choose between development and winning - you can have both.
Maximize Development and Winning:
Shaka Smart, Head Coach for Marquette basketball on the 26-page culture doc he sends to recruits.
"We say culture is simply how we act, interact, and respond. That's it. If it's just words on paper, it doesn't really matter. Our job is to bring it to life."
Practice Plans that Win:
I was recently interviewed on Breakaway, the Minor Hockey Podcast to discuss running an effective minor hockey practice.
“The attitude and energy that you bring to the rink is step one. Come out with some enthusiasm, a smile on your face, you’re buzzing around, talking to the guys and girls, fist bumps, shin pad taps, joking around… that’s such a great opportunity to interact with people.”
Ice Hockey Systems is the platform I use to design and share drills, practice plans, and systems.
Do you have a drill you would like me to share with the Coaching Project community? Send it to me.

Last year we were able to do a live stream of the event and we are hoping to do that again. We will confirm this later.
