Latest from the blog:
Harmony Does Not Equal Performance
Harmony feels good. Everyone enjoys it when the vibe in the locker room feels positive and connected. However, there is a trap that can exist on teams with strong social bonds. People don’t want to speak hard truth for the risk of disrupting the good feelings.
Practice Plans that Win:
Resources to help build a better practice:
Not every pass will be flat and in your sweet spot. The ability to get shots to the net quickly is a necessary skill to score. By adjusting your body to the puck and getting confidence to “hit it” will create more offense.
Ice Hockey Systems is the platform I use to design and share drills, practice plans, and systems.
Breakthrough Knowledge:
This caught my attention:
Lessons from a first-year head coach, Leo Girod, Sollentuna J20 Elite Sweden.
Whether you are first-year coach or veteran, you will find Leo’s reflection to be insightful. I especially appreciated his system for communicating:
I used an Excel tracker to see how and when I was talking to my players. I had 3 types of conversations:
‧ 1 point: Basic conversation - "How was your day?"
‧ 3 points: Trio-Duo meeting - About hockey
‧ 5 points: 1v1 meeting - About life
The goal was to reach 17 pts/month.
This is a great tool to avoid the common pitfall of communication gaps.

Two Ways to Look in the Mirror
The “hard look in the mirror” approach has been around for decades. You can look AT yourself or you can look IN the eye.
