For Your Inspiration
How to maximize individual development and team performance
Hi there,
You don’t have to choose between development and winning - you can have both.
In order to get the results we desire, we must do two things. We must first create the space to reason in our thoughts, feelings and actions and second we must deliberately use that space to think clearly.
-Shane Parrish
We need inspiration
I’ve found that it’s important to absorb quality information throughout the season. It’s natural to be consumed by the immediate challenges facing your team but if you can make the time to find sources of inspiration through quality inputs you will achieve clarity in your thoughts and communicate effectively to your team.
I have a list of “go to” newsletters that I regularly take time to review throughout the season. These are helpful because they come directly to my email inbox and I can review when I have the time. They are typically quick to read with clues on where to go deeper on a given subject as I feel inclined. This fuels creativity which can trigger engagement in my players and helps me show up in a high quality way for my team.
It’s amazing how often a topic from outside of your sport can become relevant and provide the spark you need.

Journal:
Taking the time to write down your thoughts and actively reflect is a low hanging fruit for your development and to drive your leadership. A useful prompt is, “Plus, Minus, Next”.
Plus - what is going well?
Minus - what isn’t going well?
Next - based on what is and isn’t going well, what is the most important thing(s) to do next?
